Plano is a very family-focused community with a diverse population (more than 90 languages spoken in the homes of the kids educated in city schools). The city ranked #5 on the list of Top Cities for Kids in 2014 by Livability. The ranking takes into account many factors important for families, including access to great schools and a good health care system, access to healthy food options, cost of living, crime rates, parks, playgrounds, etc. Plano is also a highly engaged community – in 2013 alone, about 6,300 people donated nearly 95,000 hours of their time volunteering in community projects.
